Cowrie Honeypot Data Aquistion

This map was created using Google GeoCharts. The data shown only portrays some of the GeoIP data collected from the log files. Specifically 3/4/2020, 3/6/2020, 3/10/2020, and 3/14/2020. The data listed is only limited to 3 columns so dates could not be added. Some locations contain many overlapping circles indicating multiple IP addresses with similar GeoIPs (they kind of look greyish). This indicates those IP addresses are possibly from a database center.

About the project:

Python JSON Google GeoCharts Data Analysis

The Cowrie honeypot was hosted in the IT department at Clarkson University and collected data for about 2 months.

This data contained information of how malicious users attempted to use or gain information out of the honeypot (such as looking for important documents, setting up digital currency mining, or uploading viruses).

The IP information of the users was utilized for this chart. This IP data was converted into their respective GeoIP locations using Python and mapped on to Google GeoCharts.
